  SECTION 468.1285. Prohibitions; penalties.

  • 1(1) 2No person shall knowingly:
    6(a) 7Practice speech-language pathology or audiology, unless the person is licensed pursuant to this part.
    21(b) 22Use terms such as, but not limited to: “speech pathologist,” “speech therapy,” “speech therapist,” “speech correction,” “speech correctionist,” “speech clinic,” “speech clinician,” “language pathology,” “language pathologist,” “voice therapist,” “voice pathology,” “voice pathologist,” “logopedics,” “logopedist,” “communicology,” “communicologist,” “cognitive communication therapy,” “cognitive communication therapist,” “aphasiologist,” or “phoniatrist,” or any title, designation, words, letters, abbreviations, or device tending to indicate that such person holds an active license as a speech-language pathologist when the person is not licensed as a speech-language pathologist pursuant to this part.
    124(c) 125Use terms such as, but not limited to: “audiology,” “audiologist,” “audiometrist,” “audiological,” “hearing therapy,” “hearing therapist,” “hearing clinic,” “hearing clinician,” “hearing aid audiologist,” “aural habilitationalist,” “aural rehabilitationalist,” or any title, designation, words, letters, abbreviations, or device tending to indicate that such person holds an active license as an audiologist when the person is not licensed as an audiologist pursuant to this part.
    198(d) 199Present as his or her own the license of another.
    209(e) 210Use or attempt to use a license to practice speech-language pathology or audiology which has been suspended, revoked, or placed on inactive or delinquent status.
    235(f) 236Give false or forged evidence to the board or a member thereof.
    248(g) 249Employ unlicensed persons in the practice of speech-language pathology or audiology.
    260(h) 261Sell or fraudulently obtain or furnish any speech-language pathology or audiology diploma, license, or record of registration, or aid or abet in the same.
    285(i) 286Conceal information relative to violations of this part.
    294(2) 295Any person who is convicted of a violation of this section commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 318775.082 319or s. 321775.083322.
