SECTION 377.06. Public policy of state concerning natural resources of oil and gas.

Latest version.
  • 1It is hereby declared the public policy of this state to conserve and control the natural resources of oil and gas in this state, and the products made from oil and gas in this state; to prevent waste of natural resources; to provide for the protection and adjustment of the correlative rights of the owners of the land in which the natural resources lie, of the owners and producers of oil and gas resources and the products made from oil and gas, and of others interested in these resources and products; to safeguard the health, property, and public welfare of the residents of this state and other interested persons and for all purposes indicated by the provisions in this section. Further, it is declared that underground storage of natural gas is in the public interest because underground storage promotes conservation of natural gas; makes gas more readily available to the domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers of this state; and allows the accumulation of large quantities of gas in reserve for orderly withdrawal during emergencies or periods of peak demand. It is not the intention of this section to limit, restrict, or modify in any way the provisions of this law.
