SECTION 296.06. State policy; eligibility requirements.

1(1) 2It is the policy of the state to admit residents into the home without regard to race, age, sex, creed, religion, national origin, or any other reason that would thereby create a practice of discrimination. However, an applicant’s veteran status shall not constitute discrimination.
46(2) 47To be eligible for residency in the home, a veteran must:58(a) 59Have wartime service as provided in s. 661.01(14) 67or peacetime service as defined in s. 74296.0275. 76(b) 77Be a resident of the state at the time of application.
88(c) 89Not be mentally ill, habitually inebriated, or addicted to drugs.
99(d) 100Not owe money to the department for services rendered during any previous stay at a department facility.
117(e) 118Have applied for all financial assistance reasonably available through governmental sources.
129(f) 130Have been approved as eligible for care and treatment by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
