SECTION 1011.521. Appropriation to private colleges and universities.

1(1) 2Subject to the provisions of this section, the Legislature may provide an annual appropriation to support Florida private colleges and universities. Such appropriations may be used to provide access to Florida residents seeking a postsecondary education, to fulfill the state’s need for graduates in specific disciplines, and to support medical research.
53(2) 54Each institution receiving an appropriation under this section shall submit a proposed expenditure plan to the Department of Education by the date and in the format established by the department.
84(3) 85By September 1 of each fiscal year, each institution receiving an appropriation under this section shall submit a report to the Department of Education detailing expenditures of the funds received under this section in the preceding fiscal year. Any funds used to provide financial assistance to students shall be reported to the department in accordance with s. 1421009.94143. 144(4) 145An institution may not expend any of the funds received under this section for the construction of any buildings.
